    Default System Sound Alert

Have the weirdest problem with my 755p and the System sound alert. All of my email alerts work with the exception of the System sound, which of course is the only one that I like to use. The other very limited alerts suck...

Does anybody else have this problem? Is there a fix? Can you add alerts specifically for use with email notifications?

Yes, you can add an alert much like adding a ringtone. Here is website I visit alot, for .mp3 files which you can use for either ringtones or alerts. Alerts, obviously should be rather short, maybe 1-2 seconds. Just double click on any of the files and they will play for you; to save them to your computer, right click on the file and Save Link As and choose where to save it. Then I put the .mp3 files on my card in the treo and use Minitones to make them into ringers or alerts, again - ringers should be 30-35 seconds max and alerts should be 1-2 seconds in length. After you have made the sound files and Minitones have ADDED them to main memory, they will show up in your Sounds & Alerts to use for whatever.

Well as I explained right above your post, I use the free program Minitones that makes a ringtone from an .mp3 and adds it into main memory for you. After creating the tone with Minitones is is now available in your list of tones in Sounds & Alerts. I have used my homemade tones for Calendar, Voice Mail, Messaging alerts.

I appreciate your reply but I am looking for a way to add the alert into my "Email Notifications". Minitones works great but saves it only to the general notifications list.

Are you using the Versamail for your email then? I use ChatterEmail and it allows you to use any of the sounds in Sounds & Alerts as your email notification.

I don't believe that versamail will do it unless something has changed from the 650 to the 755p. Third party apps is your best bet to assign different tones.
