| What about email? [VersaMail is a joke] If the new 755 doesn't close the gap with Blackberrys and Sidekicks on email delivery, then Palm isn't a serious company. As a longtime Palm/Treo user, it's sad to see these inferior operating systems catch Palm sleeping, on the push email delivery. To paraphrase Bill Clinton, "It's the email, stupid!". When is Palm going to understand that they need to replace VersaMail?!

| I agree with everything you said regarding versamail. Palm should have done something a long time ago.
And I for one, am hoping! You know that Marc Blanc who developed Chatteremail is now working for Palm don't you? Chatter with my IMAP accounts is my killer app for the Treo! Lets hope that Versamail is replaced with something as spectacular as Chatter! I haven't seen the implementation, but Jobs did talk a good game in his i-phone keynote, when he talked about imap and push! It seems like he gets it . . . . .

| I have been itching to get a Treo for some time now. I'm finally eligible to purchase a new phone and I was thinking of buying the Treo 700p, but then I came across the info that Sprint was releasing the 755p on their CDMA network, so that means that Verizon will get the same phone soon, right? Should I just go ahead and get the 700p now, or should I wait for Verizon to release the 755p? How long do you think it will take Verizon to get that phone? Is it possible to get a Sprint 755p and use it on my Verizon network? And if Verizon would be releasing the same phone around the same time frame... then wouldn't you think that we would have already seen images of it? Thank you in advance for your thoughts. |

| My Thoughts, for what they are worth . . . .
Usually, these releases are "exclusives". Usually about 6 months. (the iphone is a Cingular exclusive for a few years!) And there is no guarantee that any Palm Treo will show up on a network. (I was hoping for a 700 P at Cingular) Even though both Sprint and Verizon are CDMA, they aren't compatible on each other's networks. Sprint has the more affordable data rates if that helps you to decide . . . .

| Oh, very interesting... so what you're saying that it is possible that Verizon will never even see this phone then. So then maybe I'm better off just picking up the 700P? If only Sprint is going to get this one, then it doesn't pay to wait around for nothing, ya know? Thanks for your input. |

Thanks for your input. | I'd say it's more likely that Verizon WILL see this phone, just not in May/June. Possible, yes. The Treo 700p landed on Verizon last year and Sprint not too long thereafter.

My Sprint Q bill is much less than my Verizon 700p bill.
I don't see the NFL mobile package as being that exciting. I have it on the Sprint Q and it's nothing more than a website favorite.
The included IM client interests me and I'm wondering if we'll see a new email client now that Marc of Chatteremail has joined Palm.

| Chris, Let me just say that as much as I am paying for two Treos through Cingular, I am still glad I am not paying your phone bills! Quote: |

| I am not saying that. Only that to this point, there has been no official announcement that Verizon will be getting the 755. When the 700P came out, many of us GSMers, speculated how long it would be before there was a GSM version available . . We are still waiting. I have seen questions on this forum as to when the 680 will be available as a CDMA unit. No announcement yet, and I am guessing, its not going to happen. As Chris stated above, usually CDMA units end up on CDMA networks, but there has been no announcement, and usually whoever goes first, gets an "exclusive" period before the competition jumps in . . .

| Alright, you have all been very helpful. So basically, it's possible that Verizon will get the 755p, but there is no telling when that will be since there has been no announcement. Since Sprint has already announced it, it seems as if they have an exclusive deal with this phone for a set amount of time, so it's possible that Verizon won't see this phone for a few months. So the only conclusion that I can come to, is that if I wait, I can possibly get the 755p, but that might be a few months. If I get the 700p now, which I have been reading these forums, and customers seem to be having trouble with the software... then I will get a treo, but it also might have problems, and then I could ultimately make a bad decision by purchasing said phone and not wait until I hear about the 755p. I guess it would be in my best interest to just wait a month or two I suppose. I'm a pretty impatient person, I like to have my toys as soon as possible - I know, it's a problem. Thanks again for your help - you've been very helpful. If you ever need any recommendations on music, let me know - this treo stuff is beyond me, I suppose haha. |
