Treo 755
Hey there. I currently have a 650 from Sprint and love its features, especially the ability to receive work email, text messaging and the calendar. I've read several postings, but quite frankly, I don't understand what most of you are talking about with respect to software upgrades. I've done a couple recommended upgrades and that was it. Seems like I'm not utilizing my phone to the fullest potential, anyhow....
I am in the process of deciding on whether to upgrade to a Treo 755 or purchase a iPhone. I was hoping to log onto this forum and read about how great and excited everyone was with the Treo 755.
How much better is the 755 compared to the 650? Has anyone experienced any problems with syncing or getting the installed programs to work? I guess I'm leaning toward the 755 because I'd be more familiar with it, but I want to feel warm and fuzzy inside too. Will this phone make me feel warm and fuzzy? :tounge:
Thanks, Dan

It made me feel all warm and fuzzy, its like the better prettier version of the 650. I love my 755 and my mom loves my 650 so it worked out.

Warm and fuzzy is a disease. Anyway, there are threads around that discuss the differences between the iPhone and the Treo series. A brief rundown:
Pro:
600+ dollars
colorful
Yahoo! push mail (what a thing)
Con:
No keypad - the touch sensitive screen keypad is not well liked by a few bunches of people.
No third party applications for the immediate future.
Your Treo will do the same and more than the iPhone, though the approach may be a bit different.
I use my Treo in a business environment for HOURS a day. The need to edit documents, send them, to have PUSH mail and other functions are very important to me and at this time, the iPhone just does not compete.

Thanks, I went with the treo 755. I love it so far. The only bummer thing is that I did not want my calendar and contact info to automatically transfer to my work outlook. I like syncing the phone directly onto my PC with calendar and contact info. My 650 allowed me to check my work email, but it didnt sync my phone info to outlook.
You wouldnt happen to know a way that would allow me to check my work email without the phone automatically syncing to the server at work, would you?

I upgraded to the 755 from my 2 year old 650. A few observations:
1: Audio quality on the 755 is far superior to the 650, even with Volumrcare on the 650. Speakerphone is also vastly improved on the 755.
2: EVDO is killer, even with the POS Blazer, surfing the web is a pleasure, compared to the 650
3: Internal antenna is nice on the 755, and so far, I'm getting much better reception than on my 650. Have not dropped a call yet, the 650 dropped calls frequently.
4: very cool being able to receive calls when checking e-mail or using Blazer. Much like GSM phones.
5: Bluetooth does not seem to be as stable as on the 650. My 755 keeps re-loading the phonebook with my MINI Cooper, about every 10 minutes.
All in all, very satisfied. I looked at Blackberry, Moto Q, and others...I love Palm's operating system....much better for me than Windows Mobile. The 755 is not perfect, but what is?
