Can anyone help?
The exact same thing has happenned to me but I did not have a lock up while in sync. (I do believe I had an error in the log).
Every time I would change functions, I got a screen that I had to log into Sprint Power Vision. I would handshake successfully, then it would power off and re-boot. If I cancelled the connection to Power Vision, I could go to the correct function. Obviously, I could not get on line. I just did a good sync to my home desktop, and the problem is gone! It appears that this is a symptom of a bad sync!!!!!

phone recognizing caller in address book issue /???help
Since I bought my new Treo 755p even though I have a phone number and a name in my phone contact it does not appear and it says unknown caller when someone calls. Some appear and some don't. Does anyone know what that might be and how to fix it?
Thanx a million

Hi:
Just a quick stab....Any of the contacts that don't pop up marked "Private"?
Also, were those that appear created after you got the 755 and those not appearing created on another phone or earlier device?

Another possibility.....Do those who don't appear have an unlisted number or have caller ID blocked on their end. If so, they probably don't pass the number so your system can read it.

No, it's a very random thing, it says "unknown caller" it does not say private and some of them are in my phone book and are listed. It is really strange because with my 650 it worked just fine. Thanks for answering. Regards, Lissette

When you say it is random, does it happen with a person and the next time they call their ID is shown or is it consistent for certain individuals?
If the former I would chalk it up to network issues. If the latter, I am stumped.
In either case you may want to speak with your carrier.
When it happens could you possibly be roaming? Not sure if that could affect it, but who knows?

my 755p issue
It happens with the same people I think, I have so many people in my phone book that it;'s hard to track but I will notice now. I am not roaming when it happens at all. It's not the carrier because with my 650 it worked just fine. It is a mystery to me. Thanks!

Back Up then Reboot...Maybe?
You might need to back up your Treo 755p's information using the Hotsync. (Make sure your contacts and address book are also being backed up--for some reason I have to choose "Custom" for mine to be backed up). Then I would do a soft reboot by taking out the battery, then putting the battery back in while the metal part on the battery touches the metal part inside the phone where the battery goes. Then just put the battery back in and wait.
Another problem could be that third party applications are interfering. I stopped adding software a long time ago. I just have the basics like the email and web browser that came with the phone, and Kinoma to play movies, and a few other things. But otherwise, I try to avoid adding software.
Hope that helps. Like I said, though, make sure you are properly backing up the phone in case your phone is about to crash or in case your soft reboot turns into a "hard reboot" (which is the same thing but when you put the battery back in, you hold down the center circle button and it instructs you what to do in order to erase all your information--that's a hard reboot!). After a hard reboot, you synchronize, and most everything is back to normal. I think you would just have to rearrange your main menu a little bit.
Also if your area code has changed, that might change things. For example, I noticed that my brother (who has a completely different phone) could not speed dial people when he was on vacatino because the speed dial did not have the area code included. It didn't need the area code dialed when he was at home.

Treo 755p, Sprint Network
Favorite apps: SplashShopper, VersaMail (works just fine if you know to use Sprint's SMTP server), Sharklinks.
Apps that never worked for me: Graffiti Anywhere, Metro.
I can't stand the built-in contacts program.
I have no wireless headset yet. I have a 2 GB SD card and it's plenty.

I remember something like this happening to my 650. I think I did not have the area code in my contacts and it would not match the caller ID. Once I went through (what a pain) and added the area code they would show up...you might give it a try

Just trying to learn and talk at the same time here.
