Default Verizon and Treo 750 & 755

Just spoke to a bunch of Verizon reps presenting at a corporate technology fair... They had a 755p with them, and stated that it is now in testing for Verizon's network. They said it may take a while to test fully, hopefully by the end of the summer, but possibly as long as this fall (should definitely be by the end of October, when my contract is up!).

There are NO plans to release a new Windows Mobile Treo soon - they offered the 700wx as a "new" device. They suggested that the next WM Treo offering would be some time late 2007/early 2008. Of course, reps don't always know everything, but they seemed informed.

Just took back my Sprint Moto Q and exchanged it for the Treo 755. Will not use a Microsoft cell phone for a very long time, bugs galore. Also, Motorola needs to use faster "chips" because the phone constantly lags. My point is simple: Palm may be "old" but it is stable and easy to use whereas windows mobile is slow, difficult to use, and very unstable.

I am thinking of exchanging my Q for a Treo 700p with Verizon. I have read through all the posts, even the "Everything Q" forum. These phones are so expensive I'm trying to get it right this time. I cannot stand the Q calendar and find all the scrolling through menus frustrating. Do you like your Treo better than the Q? I really need to be organized in my work, out in the field a lot, etc...

thanks

I just sold my Q i didnt like it freezing up on me and had to keep reseting all the time I had the Treo 700p and i loved it. I think that would be a better choice for you.

Yes, my treo 755 is hands down a better organizer than the Moto Q. The phone quality is also excellent. It is a much easier organizer also. I really can't understand why anyone would choose a Q over the Treo after having both back to back. Oh well, different strokes for different folks.

I just signed up for a two year contract with Sprint to get the Palm 755. I love the phone, but the data speeds on Sprint are mediocore at best. My friend has a Treo on Sprint and gets double the speed I have seen (250K on Sprint versus 500K+ on Verizon).

My question is, I would rather get on Verizon's network, but don't want to wait until late summer/fall to get the phone. Will I be able to take my 755 from Sprint and activate it on Verizon? I would like to hear from someone that has done this with earlier model Treos.

I am a former sales rep for Verizon Wireless. And what device you decide to go with is really a personal preference question. I prefer Treo over the windows. The treo tends to be a more stable platform. There are those who I have spoken to that said that they have had a series of issues with the 650 but it nowhere compares to the # of people who have issues with the windows mobile devices. I have carried a Treo 650 for two years and am waiting for the 755 to come to verizon before I upgrade. I have several 3rd party software applications that use constantly. The think I love the best about the palm software compared to wm is the simplicity and ease of use. Anyone can just pick it up and figure it out quickly.

Anyway, that's my 2 cents worth. Good luck.

Not likely. even though Sprint and verizon are both CDMA, they opperate on different frequencies. One at 800 mHz and the other 1900 mHz.

I received my Treo in the mail this past Monday and I already love it. I made the right decision. Thanks to everyone for their replies.

There is simply NO COMPARISON.. The TREO remain the standard bearer for PDA/Phones.

My issues w/my 650p where as most complain, the low volume. However, there are many fixes for that. After dropping my second treo 650 onto the ocean last summer i decided to give the Q a try.

I was prepared to really like the phone. but was disappointed. The loss of a touch screen was worse than i had expected. The loss of thousands of 3rd party s/w was tough. But it was the lagging and locking up that were just completely unacceptable. Also, there (if there is 1, a reasonably techno savvy, comp. eng couldn't find it) is no alpha-numerical phone pad (to dial 1800getcoke etc..), Also, i don't care for how the calls were logged. the text messaging system was also inferior.

The treo is a true pda. Once you get used to flying through the menus w/the touchscreen, you'll never be able to go back to a navigation button. For me it has the perfect feel and weight. the Palm os runs bug free and instant, no lagging. In just about every category the treo is the hands down winner for me.

For me the TREO has easily defeated each new product that was supposed to replace it.
