What should the default setting be...? - Treo Forums

I have a question about the default setting for one of the entries under "Custom" for the HotSync Manager.

For Backup, right now it says Do Nothing. I think I had changed this but I forget which one it should be. Basically, the options are: "Handheld overwrites Desktop," "Desktop overwrites Handheld," and "Do nothing."

Right now my default is the 3rd one, but I believe that it should be one of the first two, but I don't know which is the recommended one.

I'm guessing it should be the 2nd one, but I just want to make sure.

Basically, I like how after a hard reset, all my data comes back just like before. Thanks!

Typically this backup conduit should be set to "Handheld overwrites Desktop" so that when you sync each time it is backing up what is on your handheld for safe keeping (on your PC). But, if you have to do a hard reset of the device for some reason, then you want to first switch that conduit to read "Desktop overwrites Handheld" so that it will put everything in your backup folder back onto your Palm. Then after you hotsync and confirm that all is back on your Palm, you can reset the conduit to read the first way.
