wireless sync or versamail?

I just upgraded from Treo 650 to 755p. Because I use outlook express and roadrunner for my regular email, tech/asst told me I cannot use the pc monitor and that means the only wireless sync I can do is for email. All other sync must be done thru hotsync. So I am wondering, should I go back to versamail and save battery? Seems like the battery drains faster than the 650 and I suspect the wireless aspect is responsible for that.
