Can't get Windows Mobile Device Center 6.1 to install

I cant for the life of me get Windows Mobile Device Center 6.1 to install or work. Tried from microsoft's website, off the CD and nothing works. So i can't get my 800 to sync. I'm running vista and need some help. Thanks in advance.

It comes installed on your Vista computer, so you cannot install on top of it (at least I could not not on my 2 Vista laptops).

Once you decide not to install WMDC (love those abbreviations), you can connect via the USB cable or Bluetooth (if your laptop is so inclined). I prefer Bluetooth and use it exclusively.

Anyway, you just gotta create a partnership (not the legal king) to start syncing.

when you connect via usb cable you should get a dialog box about new hardware (I have xp so the terminolgy may be slightly different) You shoul be able to set up a partnership or whatever it might be called in WMDC and after that it should be peachy. Have you read the instructions in the 800w user get guide or ngetting started pamphlet?
