Smile Changing from 650 to 800w!

I have been using the Palm OS for many years and am finally switching OSs. HELP! I don't want to have to input all my contacts one-by-one. My life is on my Treo 650. I use every feature! I love my Treo! What do I do to synchronize all my info! Again, HELP!

My new Treo 800w will be arriving this week! :gasp::laugh3:

    Hi and welcome to ET:

I am not an 800w user, but I believe if you sync your appointments, contacts, etc. to Outlook you should be able to bring that right into the new device. Have you looked at the manuals on the Palm or Sprint sites?

I am sure others who are users of the 800 will jump in as soon as they are awake....

    Best of luck!

Hi, I too went from a 650 to the 800, what a switch. As long as you have all your information updated in outlook, you shouldn't have any problems, I did not. The only thing the 800 doesn't do is sync your Notes from Outlook. Have not found a way to get them on there yet. Good Luck.

They are right about Outlook. However I look at it as house cleaning time.

For your notes, once you create your new partnership for your new Treo 800w onto your PC, make sure you select sync files. This will create a folder onto your desktop. You could then drag your notes from your Palm folder from your 650 sync into the newly created folder for your 800w. Then when you sync the notes will be in that folder, and thus on your device under My Documents.

I too am switching from the Palm OS on a Treo 700P to the Treo 800w. I found instructions on the Palm website. http://kb.palm.com/SRVS/CGI-BIN/WEBC...Case=obj(41224). Seems to be simple enough. It does specify Palm Desktop Contacts, Calendar, Tasks and Notes. Is notes and memo's the same? Hope it works!

Default Considering switching from 650 to 800 or PRO

I have been a Palm user for years and love the OS and its ease of use. With the 800 and now the introduction of the PRO I am tired of waiting for them to come out with the POS and am considering moving to the 800 or PRO. I use the memo function on the POS and store everything in it and mark many memos private so they have some degree of protection. Is there the ability to create a 'memos' file on the 800 or PRO and password protect selected memos? As you can tell I am a novice in this area so any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks gls

I have not noticed the ability to password notes and upon checking I do not see it as an option on the 800W.

Have not seen the password feature on the Notes, but I was able to sync Notes from outlook. I had to do a hard reset on my device (the famous "no ringer problem") and when I went back to recreate my sync through my desktop it asked what files I wanted to sync. Notes was on this list. I'm not sure if I missed it before, or I was too excited and overlooked it. Either way, the notes are created as individual documents in the My Documents folder on your 800. THey do not have the ability to be password protected on the 800w.
