    Default Opera Browser

Hello, just bought a Treo 800, never had any type of smart phone before. I've heard about the Opera browser, would it be a good idea for me to download? Is it a better browser than IE? If so, which version dhould I download and would there be a cost?

    Thanks in advance,

    Mike.

    Hi and welcome to ET:

OperaMini is a free download and if you are interested you can take a look here. Some love it and in some cases OperaMini can work better than the built-in and for other sites it won't.

You should try it yourself to see how you like it. After you do post your experiences here at ET.....

I am running Opera Mobile 9.5 (different from Opera Mini) on my 800w. It provides a nicer experience on some web sites, but doesn't render as fast as IE quite often. There's no harm in having both, so I'd suggest giving it a try.

Not having luck with either version of Opera. On the Opera mini page, the site tells me that my phone model could not be detected. When I try to open the mini app that I downloaded for Opera mini, it tells me there is no application associated with "mini." Than when I download the Opera 9.5 app, I get Opera_951_in_setup is not a valid pocket PC application.

Are you trying to install Opera or Opera Mobile? The mobile version is at http://www.opera.com/products/mobile/download/. I have not tried mini on WM.

I've heard some issues with the treo's new 320x320 screen and opera. Anyone have any feedback on this?

I had opera mobile 8.65 and then tried the beta 9.5. I like the 9.5 better. It seems that 9.5 loads pages much faster and is generally more responsive.

First of all Opera is the open source and its completely free. For treo 800 i think its not announced. Hmmmm check opera mini which was introduced for treo 600. May be its compatible with treo 800. Just try it.
