i have a new 800w (2 days old) and it has never displayed an indicator in the top status bar to notify me of a new text/sms message. for the life of me i cannot find any setting or documentation telling me how i would have turned it off, or more importantly, how to turn it back on.

details - when my phone is locked and text comes in, the phone beeps as expected, but, when i hit the power button displaying the login screen, there is no indicator up by the clock, battery, signal, etc... indicators telling me i have a message. even when i unlock the screen, and the today screen comes up, there still is no indicator. there is the typical "1 new sms message" displayed in the messaging section of the today screen, but nothign up top.

as far as i can tell, all other indicators come on (appt reminder, sync, power, time, etc...).

cna anybody tell me what i screwed up?
