    Default Home telephone connection

Wouldn't it be nice if there was a kit similar to car kits that would make regular telepohnes at home or office "slaves", so when somebody calls you at your mobile regular phones would ring? Some kind of cradle where you put your phone when at home for recharging, and also to feed the network of reular phones in every room? With such device nobody would need land lines. Is anything like this available on the market? Is it technically possible?

There is software that does exactly this... I remember reading about it here, but after a few Sam Adams this 4th of July weekend...the name escapes me.

So, when your Treo is in the cradle, a call will be forwarded to your home phone..correct?

Yes, I want to be able to use normal phones that would route calls through Treo and in reverse, so I will not have to have a landline. When I am on the go - I could use the Treo itself, when I come home and put the phone in the cradle - it would send all my calls to regular phones that are connected to the cradle. I don't think this can be done simply by software - there's got to be some hardware component - none of the cradles I've seen have any phone lines coming in or out.

In fact this is a mystery to me why there is no devices like this for any other phone, at least none that I've heard of. A lot of people would love to give up their land lines and have just one phone. The only thing that stops me from dropping my landline is that I don't want to carry around the home my mobile. And you often don't hear if it is ringing in another room. It would be much nicer if it would route the calls to my local network of phones in every room, while staying in the cradle.

If I was a telecommunications engineer I would start selling devices like this and get rich. Instead I am pleading for help in the chat room.

Cingular has this hardware exactly but I've never really paid attention to it and not sure if it will work with the treo or not. Like Chris, I've had too many Lowenbrau's! My head is numb...:D

    Default Treo to landline

Thanks I will check with Cingular, even though I am on T-mobile. If they have it, I don't think it should make a differnece what provider you are with.
Have a nice and safe 4th of July.

Okay, now maybe I am not fully understanding, but when I get home I do call forwarding from my cell to my home phone, then I shut off my Treo 600. In the morning I turn on my Treo and un-forward my calls. This works really well for me - no cost (included in my Verizon package). Just a thought...

    Default Home telephone connection

No, this is not about forwarding, this is easy. I want to completely cut off my land line service, and only keep the wiring inside the home, and instead if connecting the phones to the outside telephone line, hook them up to the Treo that will feed the signal to them. So that when you pick up the phone you get dial tone provided by mobile phone. So the question is whether the interface like this exists at all. To me this sounds like a very natural thing - you only have one number, and it converts between the mobile phone when you are away from home or office, but become a sort of land phone when you are inside. Anybody heard of such thing?

    Informative This looks like it

I have seen a couple of things that do what you want with other phones, but this one is the first to say it works with the 650. I plan on getting one in the next few weeks. Try http://www.phonelabs.com and look at "Doc-n-Talk"

One ofthe carriers had something called Fastforward that routed calls to home phones whn the cell was on the fast Forward Dock.

Can't remember which one it was...
