I tried a 4GB from SD and it won't Work.
The phone does not even detect that a card was inserted.

It's pretty dumb engeneering to limit the sized like that.

You'd think that they would have learned better but they keep doing it over and over.

So 2 Gig's the max for the 650.

On the bright side, Core Micro Technology put out the Duo SD Card that has a Usb connector as part of the card itself.

Now that is Great thinking and it work perfectly.

    Have fun.

Dumb engeneering [sic], eh? Is it possible that when the Treo 650 was originally designed and put into production, there was nothing larger available to the general public?

Also, when you say you would have thought "they would have learned better but they keep doing it over and over", what do you mean? The newer Treos take larger cards. I know 4gb work, but I am not sure if they are up to 8gb with the 750 or 680...

Default does card speed matter in a 650?

I'm looking to get a 2gb card for my 650. I was just wondering, how important is the speed of the sd card? I've seen that there these days they are usually at 60x or 150x. In a previous post, someone wrote:

"Remember you *really need* to get an accelerated card, at least 45x, or it will be very slow. The Treo is limited to around 45x, but a standard un-accelerated card will be very slow to read/write from, and might even have mp3/movie read time issues."

So does this mean that any card with speed above 45x would be superfluous for a 650? Or will the extra investment in a 150x card be worth it? Thanks a bunch.

equally important is the format factor. A treo 650 cant read fat32 formatted cards without patching the rom. I'm not sure what other units have that limitation. I've also seen it said that the "SDHC" cards arent supported.

I just popped in a 256mb Secure Digital (brand name) into my 700wx, it was my first card I bought years ago for my digital cam and it seems to work pretty fast. I'll be looking into the 4gb cards since they have come down in price so much over the last year or so.
