Ethos,
Actually, with the plastic cover removed, the screen does not chafe against the clip holder. But, if the Treo 650 is pushed hard enough, the keypad will hit the clip holder and subsequently turn on the Treo 650. Though, this can be avoided with TreoGuard

You actually have about a quarter of an inch between the Treo 650 screen and the clip. Better yet, with the plastic cover on the Treo, you still have some room (with no rubbing).
I thought I would ditch the cover as well, but after forcing myself to use it for awhile, I have gotten used to it (based on how I use the Treo). For others, it is a must to "ditch" the cover depending on how much the screen is needed for access. For me, the 5 way and differing keys work well enough at this time to keep the plastic cover.
This case does not have an opening for interchanging SD cards. You would have to remove the case for this action to take place. This is a drawback if you swap SD cards often. Please be aware of this. Though, there is an opening to flip the sound switch.
As an extra protection, I have a screen protector on the Treo screen. I would recommend doing this just to keep the screen scratch free.
The top of the clip holder rubs the case as you place the Treo in and out of the clip holder (though, this would be by design). Nothing to worry about.
My overall use of this particular skin case is to protect my Treo from dings and scratches. So at some point, I will be able to sell it in nearly new condition when I upgrade to the new Palm based Treo next year
I hope this helps.
Thanks,
Kurt
