Default Address Book/Contacts Wiped Out After Sync!

I have had my 700p for about a week, and it has been great -- until today. I have been using the Palm HotSync with the iSync integration, and I have had good success using my iCal and Address Book data across my PowerBook G4 and the 700p. But, today after I did a Sync I found that my Contacts on the Treo where all gone AND my Address Book on my Mac was wiped clean!

Thankfully, I had a fairly recent backup of my Address Book data, and after restoring it I did another HotSync and all is well.

But, I'm wondering if others have seen this? Is there anything I could have done to avoid it?

I have read similar horror stories from people using MissingSync, so I'm not sure if that would really be a better option.

My confidence in the whole setup is shaken, so just wanted to see if people had thoughts on causes/ways to prevent in the future.

If your conduits were configured correctly and everything was smooth until the fatal sync, I have no good explanation for you. I presume you're syncing with a USB cable...

I will say that I have been using Missing Sync for a long time now, and I find it's superior in every way. The latest version is better than ever. Any problems, and MarkSpace is there with excellent product support, which is more than I can say for Palm. MissingSync has been very well-reviewed on this site, and there are a bunch of Mac users who'll vouch for it.
