Maybe he did...
Jumping through that unnecessary hoop may work on his, but not on mine. I did try it though, as I would hop through a hoop to get it to Bluetooth again!
I did notice that in addistion to the Port In Use error, I get a No Supported Services msg. forund on the phone when it is discovered by the laptop. Any ideas anyone?
Or that I get a Transport Monitor could not complete your request msg. when trying to enable Hotsync now..
Help!

Here are the steps:
1) With Bluetooth System Settings open, Start sync from Treo
2) Switch tabs (Settings to Device or Device to Settings).
Not sure if it matters which tab you are switching from or to. I'm just glad to sync.
Hope this helps.

Thank you this worked for me. For the Record, I have a Palm Tungsten T, no Verizon BT devices, and had the same problem. I believe it was caused by the upgrade from Mac OS 10.4.3 to 10.4.4
I just wanted to post this in case it helps anyone else.

It didn't work for me:mad: I think that's when it happened for me as well. the funny thing is the bluetooth will send documents and they do recognize each other they just don't sync. i get the "port is in use by another application....blah, blah.
I am thinking of getting a new phone. I am going to try to sync to my mom's mac mini first though and see what happens....
Thanks

I'm having sync problems too. I was able to successfully transfer a photo from my G4 laptop over to the treo, but it still doesn't sync.
I tried iSync, and while it sees the device, it says "iSync can not connect to this device." The other thing I noticed was that in my Bluetooth Devices tab, when I click on "configure" I get the following message:
"There were no supported services found on your device"
Am I forgetting to do something on the phone? I'm a total noob so I may have skipped a bunch of steps here.

I was having no problems with my Sprint Treo 650 and bluetooth on the Powerbook G4 until Apple released the "bluetooth firmware update" that apparently wasn't actually for the Powerbook G4 and didn't install correctly. Now I get the same "port in use" message and can't get my mouse to connect either. If I turn BT on and off, the mouse may or may not connect. For the Treo, all I have to do is tell it to "browse device" (which often gives an error message), then try to sync immediately after that and it always works without giving me the error. Due to the arrival of the problems with the "firmware update" and the problems involving all BT devices, I'm pretty sure the problem lies with the Mac......

By God, that worked!!!

Mine Vaja T7 Black/Black with Rivet Clip arrived (looks like the picture above) but I will be selling it. Unused, all packing materials etc. Love it, just not what I expected and well most likely will go unused. If interested let me know.
Odd fix, but heck it seems to work for some!

OK, now I'm freaked out...

This actually worked for me! After months of no bluetooth synch, this fixed it. I'm stunned.
BTW, Step 1 above is done in Bluetooth System Preferences.

Worked for me, too

This "fix" is so illogical that it almost angers me -- except that it works (for me, anyway). 10.4.4 PowerBook Verizon 650.
Thanks!

Much better than the alternative of not working...
