Cool Tiger Tricks for Treo Users - Treo Forums

Many of you probably know this, but I figured I'd pass it along. In Tiger, we've got the new widgets which is a redux of the Konfabulator program. As usual, Apple has provided us with a much more elegant solution -- allowing you to keep your desktop space and then magically have all those handy widgets appear.

I added the Yellow Pages widget. Now, when I look up a listing, I simply click on the + next to the listing. It automatically adds it to Address Book. Adding it to Address Book of course adds it to my Treo. I find the Yellow Pages widget to be extremely useful and an easy way to update my Treo address book. I would normally visit yellowpages.com and never added to my Address book. No longer will I have to search for the phone # for Gino's Pizzeria -- it's in my Address Book and on my Treo.

Excellent feature. Only on a Mac! :D

I've really enjoyed Tiger. At first glance, I didn't think it was the major upgrade that Apple made it out to be. That quickly changed after using Spotlight and the Widgets. I also find it be a bit faster than Panther -- and that was before I got my new Powerbook.

Which PowerBook did you get? I have a 2003 12" G4.... love it! Do you also use an iPod? In my mind, that has to be one of the coolest toys ever....

The main thing that stinks with this otherwise brilliant idea is that it requires you to sync to Address Book instead of Entourage, unless you want to keep two address books by synchronizing Entourage and Address Book with a script, which is a bit of a pain, to say the least. :mad:

It's all in the pursuit of Microsoft free computing world. :D I was a big Entourage user until I switched to Mail. Mail has finally stepped up in Tiger and I finally feel ok about the move. The advantage of using all Mac iApp's is of course the neato tricks found with integrated software.

No doubt. That is, of course, why I use Entourage (integration).

I think the new Mail is gorgeous, but I like linking my messages to contacts and projects, which I simply can't do without Entourage. Much as Microsoft annoys me, they have their claws into me on this one.:o

Another cool thing for tiger, is that you can pair your mac and BT, and set your mac to display incoming call's, SMS, etc. Looks really cool.

I always have problems getting my Treo to work with my iBook, mainly an error that the application is already in use, which makes no sense.

Also, my Mac tells me that no Bluetooth services are supported on my device, so I can't transfer files directly or anything like that. I don't mind that so much, but this hit-or-miss BT synching is driving me bonkers.
