HotSync Manager will not launch

Bought a Treo 650 for my wife and had just downloaded the new Tiger osx 10.4.4. The Verizon s/w said to install osx10 from disk yet automatically installed os9 instead. Went to Palm.com and downloaded the latest Verizon updater v.1.04 and have installed Hotsync Mgr v.3.2.1. Could not communicate as HotSync would not launch. Opened permissions and gave read/write permissons on all in HotSync Mgr. Tried again; got the following message:

The application "HotSync Manager" could not be launched because of a shared library error: "4<HotSync Manager><HotSync Manager><HotSyncLib.PPC><>"

Hope someone can help me fix the problem.

Okay, so you're running Tiger and have the latest software update from Apple. That's a great start. You could visit Palm, download the latest mac version of Palm Desktop and try reinstalling.

Another suggestion is to repair your permissions. To do this, restart with the OS X CD and then open Disk Utility. Click repair permissions.

Did re-install. An Apple doc recommends repairing permissions as you did. Did that. Didn't help. Archived and re-installed OSX V.10.4.4 archiving existing stuff. Didn't help. Tomorrow I will re-install Palm one more time. If that does not work I'm turning my weak mind off!

I wanted to see how you've made out since reinstalling Palm Desktop?

Well, I gave up. Downloaded the latest Palm Desktop and HotSync and installed it instead of trying to make iCal and Apple Address Book work. So . . . now I use the Palm Destop and it works fine. I do miss all the .mac automatic back-up and linkages though.
