Default Jfile and FMsync and Mac OS 10.4 (Tiger)

Since updating to Tiger, my FMsync does not work. I REALLY need Filemaker sync capability and since Filemaker Mobile 7 does not work with my Treo 650...I am out of luck.

Anyone know a work around or a potential solution (other than dumping Tiger)

    Thanks!

Default Jfile and FMsync and Mac OS 10.4

Damn! I also need FMSync/JFile to work. Very disappointed to hear of your trouble. Also troubling is that MarkSpace lists FMSync for JFile as a conduit supported both by Missing Sync AND by Tiger. Other than ensuring that you have the latest versions of everything, you might try syncing via Missing Sync. Imho, it's an outstanding product, rock solid, well-reviewed, and worth every penny anyway, assuming you don't already have it.

    Please post updates!

    Default Still doesnt work

I purchased the Missing Sync......managed to get ONE sync of ONE db....then tried to do multiple dbs....didn't work (crashed missing sync).

Tried opening the dbs manually, still crashed.......deleting the plist...still crashed........

Tried going back to one db....it crashed.....so basically....the jfile app is worthless to me right now.....hopefully the conduit (fmsync X) will be updated...apparently that is the issue

Sorry for the bad news.....looks like Filemaker Mobile is in my future (if they ever release it for Palm 5.4)

System Tools or Repair Jfile and FMsync and Mac OS 10.4

Ultradamn! Did you contact MarkSpace support with this? They're usually pretty responsive. FM Mobile stinks; I may have to migrate to an alternative db application.

    Default Contacted Missing Sync

Yes when Missing Sync crashed (multiple times).....It created a crash log for Mark Space. I filled it in and emailed it back.....haven't heard anything yet.

I am like you, I really like Jfile and I am locked into filemaker. FMP mobile is not great, plus mobile 7 requires that I use FMP7 which I am still not sold on (although I own the developer edition)

I think we are screwed....at least for now.....I may dump tiger and go back to panther until this is all ironed out....sux big time

    Default Success

I ended up wiping my drive and zeroing it out then I reinstalled Tiger and did NOT install Palm conduits but only Missing Sync and Isync.

Now I can sync with filemaker pro 6.0!!! So far it has worked without a problem. So whatever was causing problems before was erased on the reformat.....drastic action but well worth the hassle!

Drastic indeed! But at least you did it. I wonder if Spring Cleaning or even Tiger's Spotlight could find and wipe all traces of Palm stuff, saving the trouble of reformatting... Something to try when I run into your problem. Congrats.

    Default It worked

Just picked up the Verizon 650. For what it's worth, I got FMSync/Jfile working under Tiger 10.4.1 without having to wipe the drive & reinstall.
I did a spotlight search for "palm" and trashed every (reasonable) hit. Then installed Missing Sync 4.0.4 and bingo.
Well, not quite bingo. Syncing a Mac db to the Treo works fine, but "uploading" a Treo db to the Mac errors the conduit. Minor annoyance since there are workarounds. Anyway, fyi just in case you need to reinstall (heaven forbid!).

Gotta love Spotlight. It's really good when you try and search your mailbox for your registration numbers.

I'm trying to get my new Powerbook up and running tonight. I'm finding more and more issues with iSync. I'm thinking my previous luck... on my desktop was just that luck.

    iSync 2 needs help.

Feature-wise, I'm finding that most of Apple's consumer apps (Pro apps are standard-setting) are a bit lacking in important features. iSync can't separate calendars and ToDo's, iPhoto's metadata woes, iWork - embryonic, iTunes...well, iTunes is pretty darn fabulous.
But what iSync issues are you experiencing?

P.S. Congrats on your new PB! Mini, Standard, or Lapzilla?
