Need Help Verizon Treo 650 and iSync errors

I've had a similar problem getting my Verizon Treo 650 to sync (via iSync) with my Mac's AddressBook and iCal applications. I'm using OS 10.4.1 on a PowerMac G5. Here's the error log:

iSync Conduit starting 6/25/05 2:36:10 PM
Warning: couldn't add record for database AddressDB 6/25/05 2:36:37 PM
iSync Conduit: Sending Error Response 7: iSync Conduit: Error occured adding record 6/25/05 2:36:37 PM
iSync Conduit: received NULL message, disconnecting... 6/25/05 2:36:37 PM
Warning: SyncCloseDB returned 268461072 for database AddressDB 6/25/05 2:36:37 PM
OK iSync Conduit
HotSync Canceled 6/25/05 2:36:37 PM

I've tried deleting all Palm files from my Mac, then reinstalling Palm Desktop 4.2.1 to no avail. Of course, I've used iSync to install Apple's iSync conduit -- which creates a "iSync Disabled Conduits" folder in the Library/Application Support/Palm HotSync folder. Any ideas? Thanks!

Default See my earlier post!

Scott -

Forget the Palm desktop and forget the Wireless Sync. Use you Mac's Address Book and iCal instead.

NEVER use Wireless Sync - if you do it once, it makes it impossible to iSync.

Hard reset your Treo, resync it with iSync on. It should sync w/AB and iCal. It will continue to sync as long as you don't ever run Wireles Sync!

Unfortuneately, WS is in the ROM and until Shadowmite is able to publish a ROM update for Verizon Treo, there's no way to get rid of it.

Informative Hard reset worked

You're right. The hard reset fixed my problem. I'd love to delete or hide the Wireless Sync application so that I never accidentally activate it. Can I do that? I'm guessing that I accidentally activated it, and that's what got me into trouble.

Deleting EVERYTHING on my Treo was painful, because there were so many things I needed to reinstall (and register) and reconfigure (bluetooth devices, quick contacts, etc.). But so far so good!

Default you shouldn't have had to reinstall apps

Hi Scott!

That's weird - when you HotSync you apps should be reinstalled! Anyway, glad this worked for you.

Re removing Wireless Sync - WS is on the ROM. There is a way to re-record the ROM, but it requires a listing which apparently no one has hacked yet.

Check out this thread on shadowmite's site for specifc info:

http://shadowmite.com/forum/viewtopi...ht=verizon+rom

or let me know if you find another way. it'd be great to get rid of Verizon's crappy mail program too, as well as the Welcome and QuickTour.

Default Help!

Hmm. This didn't seem to work for me at all.

Here is what I did:

1. Delete the Palm's old configuration from the Bluetooth configurations.
2. Hard reset.
3. Erase all data: YES
4. English: OK
5. Setup keyboard & stylus
6. Enable network time: YES
7. Bluetooth: ON
8. Discoverable: YES
9. MAC: Bluetooth: Set up new device...mobile phone... MAC SAYS: Bluetooth setup: There are no supported services found on your mobile phone....CONTINUE....Congratulations! Your mobile phone is now set up to use your computer's bluetooth features....QUIT.
10. MAC: iSync....Devices...Add Device...1 device found...palmOne Device...isync can not connect to this device.

What's up?

Are you trying to Sync via Bluetooth? Why not just use the HotSync cable. Faster and more reliable.

Yes. I travel with my laptop quite a bit and I prefer to take as few cables as possible.

Ahhhh.. that's understandable. In leiu of a solution to your Bluetooth issue, you could check out the retractable sync and charge cables. This would allow you to charge your Treo 650 and charge without having to carry a power cable. It would minimize your cable clutter.

Are you using Tiger?

Yes, Tiger 10.4.2.

Thanks, I am definitely going to get a sync and charge cable, but I'm still hoping to find a way to sync via bluetooth. Verizon says that bluetooth syncing is possible with the phone, but when I marry it to my Powerbook, it says that no bluetooth services are available. Not sure whether this is an Apple issue, a Palm issue or a Verizon issue, yet.

I spoke to a friend of mine and we were discussing Bluetooth HotSyncing in general and I was surprised to hear that he was using it over the cables. In his words, "I can sit on my couch and initiate a hotsync". Anyway, he said his inital sync was with the cable and thereafter he didn't have any issues with the Bluetooth setup.

Have you successfully completed a hotsync using the cable?
