Default Missing Sync won't sync my address book!!

Hello,

I am having all sorts of problems with syncing my address book, to my treo 650. I have been in contact with the mark/space IT department, but they haven't been any help. So, I'm wondering if anyone could point me in the right direction.

Everything is syncing properly between my desktop, and my device, EXCEPT for address book.

I did a hard reset of my device, and tried to just sync the contacts conduit, by itself. The sync history said OK Mark/Space Contacts. But no contacts were synced onto my device.

I noticed before I did a sync with the Mark/Space Contacts, on my treo 650, under contacts, it had all of the default phone numbers from my carrier. Also under the categories for the contacts, there were the choices; All, Business, Personal, Quiklist, Unfiled, and Edit Categories.

After I synced with the Mark/Space Contacts, all of my default phone numbers were deleted, and the only categories I have now are; All, Unfiled, and Edit Categories. The default numbers did not sync with my Address book. They were deleted.

Obviously, something is going on, because the default phone numbers are being deleted, but my contacts from my desktop, are not getting to my device. Some categories are also being deleted.

I know the sync history said it was ok, but my contacts are not getting to my device, and vice versa.

I also noticed in my contacts settings, that when it gives me an option of which contacts groups I would like to sync, it doesn't give me all of my groups that appear in my address book. It only has the option, All.

Any suggestions?

Hi JT-
Sorry for the delayed response. Apparently, Mark/Space Contacts Conduit is a "better" replacement for the iSync Palm conduit. The latter was unable to sync additional address fields (other than HOME). I haven't been using 5.0 yet, so haven't trialed the conduit.

First things first, are you using the latest version of Missing Sync - which is 5.03.

Are all of your contacts still in your Address Book? I've heard a few horror stories of contacts being emptied. I'm sure these are isolated, but would like to prevent that from happening just the same. FYI: You can always "revert to Address Book Backup" from the File menu in Address Book. If you're a dot mac member, you can sync them to dot mac as an added measure of security.

You've probably tried this before, but it might be worth deinstalling Missing Sync and re-installing.

Let me know where you are and I'll see what I can do to help. I'm running out tonight (hockey game), but will check later on your status/progress.

Chris,

Thanks for the response. I am using the latest version, 5.03 I uninstalled missing sync, and reinstalled it. I didn't reinstall 5.03, but I installed 4.06 I went to iSync, and reset sync history. I noticed the options for my contacts, didn't have all of my groups, that appear in address book. It just had, “All contacts”.

I selected for the desktop to override the handheld. Did a sync, and everything synced fine, EXCEPT for my contacts.

What am I doing wrong? Please help.

I'm stumped. The odd thing is that you're experiencing similar problems with both versions. I've had great success with Missing Sync, but I might suggest going back to using Palm Desktop. You'd have to uninstall Missing Sync, install the latest version of Palm Desktop and then enable Palm OS Syncing from iSync.

If you can get contacts syncing between your mac and the Treo, then you could try going back to Missing Sync. At this point, Palm Desktop might be you're best bet to get things working again.

Chris,

Just wanted to let you know, that I did an "Archive & Install", on my
mac this weekend. I also did a hard reset on my Treo 650, and
EVERYTHING works great. I think it was a flaw with my address book.

Missing Sync works like a charm now.
