Ringo Mac-o
I'm trying to figure this 700p out and I'm not the most technically advanced person in the world.
I want to put songs on my Treo. More specifically, I would like to use some songs I have on my Apple IMac's ITunes as ringtones on my phone. I've tried to follow some of the posts in the forum, but the instructions are just too confusing.
I have a memory card with a lot memory (I think it's the biggest you can buy). I have downloaded and installed Ringo to my phone. But for the life of me, I cannot figure out how to take songs from ITunes and transfer them to my phone.
I would be eternally grateful for any help anyone can provide!

Songs purchased from iTunes will have AAC encoding that will prevent you from using them on your Treo. However, there is a workaround. Burn the songs on to a CD and then reimport them into iTunes as MP3s. (check your iTunes Import Settings for this). Okay, now you've got MP3's and you've got Ringo (which is needed to play MP3 ringtones). You have choices on how you want to get them to your Treo:
- Email one song at a time (depending on size, this might not be so bad with EvDO)
- Purchase a card reader and then drag and drop the tunes to your SD card. Insert into Treo and off you go.
- Purchase Missing Sync which comes with a software program for your Treo that emulates a card reader. Your SD card mounts on the desktop and you can drag/drop files to it.
- Once you have your MP3 files on the card, just follow directions in Ringo to personalize ringtones for your friends, family, etc.
Hope this helps.

In iTunes, under Advanced in menu bar (on Macs at least), there is an option to "convert selection to MP3." Then just follow Chris' instruction for transfering to your treo. The easiest is to use a card reader and just dump the songs you want on the card. Card readers are real cheap at Fry's, CompUSA or anywhere that sells computer stuff. Just make sure the card reader works with SD cards.
