Root Directory/SD Card/Mac/700p Verizon Update

OK, I'm feeling awfully stupid here. I'm trying to install the 700p Verizon update onto my SD card. I have tried 2 different cards, I erased them (one was new), downloaded the update, and dragged the Palm folder onto the SD card icon. It copies the information onto the card, and then when I eject the card from the reader and put it into my 700p, it shows a BLANK screen.

SO - I need help! When I drag the Palm folder onto the SD card, does it automatically go into the "root directory?" If not, HOW DO I DO IT? I've had Macs for years and years, Palms for years and years, but I'm clueless about SD cards and root directories.
