Seeking sync to ical
Read the sticky subj re syncing my Treo 700p to get ical, but I cannot get isync to recognize my device. Using teh given cable and hotsync, the process works, but I would liek to sync my ical and addressbook to the Treo.
isync tells me to add device but when I try to do so, it tells me "No device found." When I try to enable palm synching, it tells me that the hotsync software is improper;y installed or it has never been opened (it has been opened adn hotsyncs have been completed).
Any help would be appreciated.

Welcome to ET. What version of Mac OS X are you running? Have you installed the Palm OS software that came with your Treo 700p?

This is good. I'm running the same. You mentioned the sticky which references an older version of iSync. You haven't installed iSync, but rather you're using the one included correct?
If you're syncing with Palm Desktop, that's half the battle. In theory, you should have been able to "enable Palm OS Syncing". This moves the conflicting conduits out of the Conduit folder and allows iSync to take over that process. Usually the next step of Adding a Device allows you to add your Treo.
Make sure you've got your Treo connected to a USB on the mac and you're not using a hub of any sort. Assume you've done this, but try restarting your Mac -- initiating a HotSync (open Home > HotSync on your Treo > Press HotSync). Then open iSync and try to Enable Palm OS Syncing. You should get a message that Palm will move the conduits to allow for iSync to handle. At this point, you should be able to add a device. Add your Treo and you're in business.
I realize many of the steps you might have already taken. Sometimes a good restart or moving a USB cable can fix things in a hurry. If this doesn't help, try reinsalling the Palm Desktop software from your Treo 700p ontop of the existing install - initiate a HotSync and try the iSync steps.
Good luck. Let me know how you make out.

I did those steps, but it still isn't working. Isync says that it cannot find the device and that hot sync has not been run despite the fact that hot sync runs. Any other things to try? I do not recall installing isync, unless it was part of the Palm desktop disk, so I guess it was the one that comes with Tiger.
