Syncing with a PC & Mac
I am new to treo, just bought mine yesterday - treo 650. I need to sync my work computer(windows) with my treo b/c I use that for my email, contacts, notes, tasks & calender. Can I then sync it with my mac and download music & photos if I wanted to? And if so can I use the sync software that comes with my ibook or do I have to purchase the markspace software? If I do have to buy the Markspace software then whats the purpose of the syncing software that comes with the mac?
Thanks,
Rob

Congrats on your new Treo. The included software will allow you to sync with your Mac. However, Missing Sync is definitely a good solution if you plan on syncing photos and music. They actually integrate your Treo into iTunes and iPhoto. I did a review of Missing Sync that will give you an overview of it's capabilities.
We're practically neighbors, I'm right in Seaford.

Thanks but is the treo like an ipod, once you sync it with a pc or mac you need to stick with that format or can I sync both PC & mac without formating the drive?

The SD Card will not be syncing - just the Treo itself. The SD Card is nothing more than a hard drive of sorts, making it visible to both PC's and Macs.

Ahhhhhhhhh...NOW I kinda understand. Really, I'm not tryin' to sound like a smart arse. This actually does help a lot. Can you put media on the SD card then onto the Treo?
Also, I downloaded some free apps to put onto my treo but how do i put then in it? My mac see's the treo in myh system profiler but not anywhere else.
Thank you in advance for your help budd.

Yes, in fact a card reader is probably the easiest way to transfer music, files etc. Insert into your Treo and you have access to them.

The apps you downloaded should be decompressed (if they were Zip files) and you'll find .prc files. On the mac, double clicking these usually puts them into the queue for your next HotSync. During HotSync, these files will transfer to your Treo. Open your Treo and in some cases you'll have to run the program installer. Just press the Home button and select the app. Everything else is pretty self explanatory.
Here's an FAQ on Free Treo Software along with links to some titles you can find online.
Hope this helps!
