Default Syncing with osax 10.4.8 issue

Having a real problem syncing with osx 10.4.8
My palm used to be fine on a power pc mac but since i have moved to the new intel based machines it doesnt work. Gives a strange error saying 'the serial port is in use by another application'.
A friend of mine has it working on the same machine so it's not an intel mac incompatability.
Any ideas would be much appreciated.

I have actually occasionally hit this snag, even though I'm usually syncing Treo 650 <-> MacBook Pro without a problem. Try the following:

    1. Soft reset your Treo
    2. (and this will sound odd) Plug in the USB and of the cable first, wait a minute, then plug in the Treo end, wait another minute, then try to sync.
    3. Try the above with a different USB port.
    4. Rule out a cable problem by trying to perform a Bluetooth sync.
    5. Reinstall Palm Desktop.
    6. Although Palm Desktop supports Intel Macs, give Mark Space's Missing Sync a try. I have found it an excellent, feature-rich, stable substitute for Palm's conduit manager. Their online support is very good, and will walk you installation and some debugging.

Pls post your results, and good luck.

Edit: fyi, I moved your thread to this Treo + Mac forum. You're more likely to find help here. Also fyi, there are several Mac-heads around ET.com including our illustrious admin, Chris.
