treo 650 /mac & miss sync & sketch prob.

Ok,
Im new to palm,..but a long term MAC user & lover,..have studied the treo 650 (I have Verizon) & decided after many reads from thish great forum, and other info,..that I would download Miss sync - the day I picked up my NEW treo 650..so ..I just purchased my new palm treo 650, smart phone-Verizon. I researched it quite a bit before buying. I have a Power MAC G5, running Tiger 10.4.2.
I read about missing sync, and decided it was the obvious 3rd party program to purchase sense I run a MAC osx system. I read through the palm treo info, I read through the Missing sync info,...from what I gathered I was to load & install the palm software onto my computer, I did this(by the way -I have had no other palm device before-so no preexsisting palm software was already on my computer). Then I loaded & installed my downloaded Missying sync software onto the desktop computer. Then I attatched my hotsync cables between the computer & the palm treo 650, and pressed the hotsync button. I did all of these steps in this order. It appeared to hotsync correctly,..as my ical & address book and task were all appearing on the treo phone screen. I then decided I would like to add the mark/space sketch program,..so I could draw ideas & write notes. Once I downloaded sketch from the Mark/Space web site I double clicked the sketch 1.0.4 folder, and inside of it were only 2 items,.."release notes" & an icon"sketch.prc" icon. I double clicked both,..obviosly one was just notes not even instructions to the program. The other icon when double clicked appeared to open,...but then landed on my desktop with the words splash photo prc below it. So I assumed it needed to be installed onto the computer so I double clicked - and this is what it said - "the file format of the file "splashphot.prc" is unknown. You may uncheck the option "detect only clear formats" in the prefs. You see after this text a dump of the datafork of the file. Maybe it isn't a graphics file. Please contact us if you do have the technical file format details"........
So that is what the window with jibberish said.
I thought maybe I don't need to do anything(like install it) to it on this computer ,..I just need to drop the entire sketch folder into the missing sync's INSTALL ON HANDHELD window. So I did this, and it appeared as an item that would intsall on hotsync with my treo 650. So I plugged in my treo to the cables and I hotsunk my treo,..and it appeared to load the sketch program. I found the sketch icon, on my palm treo's screen. But when I tapped it it came up with ..Thank you for choosing sketch. When ordering, provide the Hotsync name below & you will receive a corresponding registration code. Enter it & tap "OK" or Tap "DEMO"
......So I entered my registration code found on my emailed invoice from mark/space. And when I did this and tapped either ok or demo, I got the same confusig message .."the serial # you have entered is NOT VALID,.try again,..or to registar call 1-800-799-1718, or 408-293-7299, or email - sales @markspace.com"......................
ok,..I tried redoing the registration code over & over triple checking,..and each time the same error. My code is correct,..as I print & save all documents,..and this one comes straight from the reg. code from the email mark space sent me.
So my paid for (NOT A DEMO) mark/space sketch,..does not work. Help!
Also,..I was noticing that my palm is not always responding to the tap of my stylus on the screen, when selecting items or writing or attempting to draw-in MEMO or Sketch app.

And I do not see my SPLASH PHOTO which was bundled with my missing sync download,..anywhere on my palm screen??? help where is it? I need it for my iphoto.

When I loaded my palm software to my desktop- Mac G5, was I supposed to first, hotsync my palm with the PALM software,..before I hotsunk my Missying sync software to the phone??. As I mentioned earlier I first loaded & installed my palm software to the desktop computer, ..then I downloaded & linstalled the paid for Mark /Space Missing Sync software to my computer,...then after following all of the 2 prgrams install instructions for my desktop computer,..then I Hotsunk ( with cables) my treo palm phone with the mark space missing sync software. Was I supposed to do my VERY FIRST HOTSYNC with the palm software(that I installed on my desktop computer),..and THEN -> for my SECOND SYNC -> hotsync my desktop/missing sync software with my Treo Palm Phone????????
Please tell me what I did wrong,...AND STEP BY STEP HOW TO FIX IT
-could this be why my palm treo is not responding to all taps from the stylus pen???
-Or why I can't use the pen to write anything under my palms MEMO program category?? I just purchased Mark/Space's Sketch thinking it would allow me to write or draw with my pen stylus,..but it didn't fix the problem either....Please Help!

I don't understand why there are NO instructions for loading/installing the SPLASH PHOTO & the Sketch software from mark/space???
I notice that the splash photo software & the sketch software both have the same weired icon - 2 electrical plugs in the shape of a U,..with a house cartoon next to them. What is this? Is it not a program at all,..but some other thing like a conduit, or what?..are they loaded and I am not finding them or not activating something...??? HELP
And worst yet,..I can't get a PERSON to talk to to help from MArk Space......on the phone....So please help....
I am not a computer whiz,..know my mac pretty well,..and my adobe programs,..some others well,..but will need to have all questions addressed in detail..help <

1. Missing Sync - uninstall both the Missing Sync (using the uninstall program included) and the Palm software.

2. Do a HARD reset of your treo (if you don't know how, do a google search for instructions).

3. Re-install Missing Sync. Do not install Palm software.

4. Sync your treo to the computer.

5. Read the handbook for Missing Sync. It tells you how to install software.

RE: the drawing program, contact MarkSpace.

All .prc programs are software for palm-type machines. They are not programs for the Mac.

It sounds like you've already been moving your contact database and iCal information back and forth via Missing Sync.

As noted by size13shoes, a .prc is a Palm OS file. Open Missing Sync (it should be in your dock). Click on the Install tab. Now, drag the sketch.prc file into the Install window of Missing Sync. Click back on the conduits tab. Confirm that Install is checked and you're all set.

What you might want to do is associate ALL .prc files with Missing Sync. To do this for all files moving forward is easy. Locate a .prc file (such as sketch.prc) . Press Apple-I (get info). Under Open With, change to Missing Sync for Palm OS. Click on Change All. Now, the next time you click on a .prc, your Mac will now to open Missing Sync -- which will in turn move it to be installed.

You don't actually need SplashPhoto to use iPhoto. When you installed Missing Sync, it installed a program on your Palm called appropriately enough Missing Sync. When you HotSync cable is connected, launch that program. It will mount your Treo's SD card. From there, you can select any photo in iPhoto > select Export > select Palm Export tab and that's it.

Let me know where you are in the whole process and I'll see what I can do to guide you through. Hopefully, you're all set!
