Default Wireless SD card on Treo 650? Hack?

I recently found out that those nifty wireless SD cards (which work on virtually every PDA on the planet) do NOT work on Treos. Had I known, I probably would not have purchased this 650 so soon... But here I am, with a Treo 650 and a 256 SD wireless card in my hand. Has anyone figured out a way to hack the Treo to get them to work? (I figured I'd post this inquiry here in the OSX forum (separately) as OSXers are usually on the ball...)

Default WLAN and Treo650 - kinda pushin' it aye?

802.11b WLAN SD card for the treo sounds good at first, but there are a few glitches with validity to even pursue it. Remember, this technology works in the 2Ghz range... the same range as the CDMA Sprint/Verizon Treo650's cellular transponder... the same range as the BlueTooth transponder. So adding yet another transponder (transmitter/receiver) on the device is kinda pushin' it. ;-)

You CAN, however, use Bluetooth on your Treo650 to connect to your laptop or home pc (if within 30 feet of course) and you CAN setup your pc or laptop to share its internet connection with the treo650. Doing this, you can access the internet wirelessly at a pretty good clip of speed through your home pc or laptop... instead of through Sprint's, AT&T's or Verizon's data network.

Sprint's data access to internet is great in some cities, ridiculously slow at home (at least for me) due to really poor cell tower coverage. Verizon and AT&T/Cingular have similar glitches of coverge of course... really amazing these companies are building out 3G networks when they can't even ensure good signal strength to maintain a call! Dohhhhh.

So no answer to your query of how to make WLAN SD card work in the treo. The Treo was built to take advantage of the alleged 2nd and 3rd gen data networks but alas, due to really unreliable connectivity by ALL The carriers, we're kinda caught in the middle here. Perhaps Treo 700 will support EVDO and next gen networks better? dunno.
