    Default 800W vs Treo Pro

So what is the difference between the 800W and Treo Pro.

The Pro appears to have a little larger battery, and little smoother look, but what else is different?

    Thanks
    Rudy

Are you speaking of the GSM Treo Pro or the Sprint CDMA Treo Pro? The devices are different, especially in terms of available memory.

#1 - the company manufacturing the device. HT&T manufactures the Treo Pro and that sure is better than the company that manufactured the 800W. I had 3 800W devices before going with a Touch Pro.

#2 - Memory. A bit of research shows that available memory is not good on the Sprint Treo Pro. Due to that, its release date has been put on hold in order to correct/improve the situation.

Bluetooth - on the 800W it works; however, it does not stay enabled throughout the day. Touch Pro it does and I would hope that with HTC involved, the Treo Pro would last throughout the entire day. My Touch Pro Blue Tooth is on 24/7 and has never turned itself off.

Radio - All three of my 800Ws would loose the data connection. The Touch Pro never has lost it and I would hope that with HTC involved, it would stay connected throughout the entire day.

The interface that the Palm 800W came with is plain, but can be cleaned up a lot. I have seen the initial screens of the Sprint Treo Pro and they are basically the same. So getting use to it is should be a breeze.

The battery in both bites. For extended use, an extended battery will go a long way.

The key pad may take a bit to get use to - different styles. I was on a Centro and went with the 800W and preferred the Centro key pad. The Sprint Touch Pro uses the same style key pad as the Centro.

I love the extra keys on the 800W - really nice not having to hit the screen to provide the functionality of those keys. The Treo Pro does not have the 2 hardware keys.

Check out the memory when you are ready to buy. Not enough memory = bad performance, slow downs, stalls, et cetera.

To close, I was not at all happy with the 800W. I miss the one-handed key pad and I am definitely not a fan of the slider key board used in the Touch Pro. However, the additional memory on the Touch Pro makes a big difference along with its build quality. If the Sprint Treo Pro improves with more memory and build quality, I would recommend it. For the time being, I have no intention of going back to the Palm line.

Sorry for not answering your question...
