How to keep backlight on all the time 800W
Does anyone know how to do this on the new Palm Treo Pro but not have the battery wear down?
I had an 800W and cound not get this to work without the battery draining in a short time.
I am returning the 800W this week and have already ordered the Pro to try.
I need to be able to look at my phone to see if i have a missed call or text mesage or e-mail without having to touch anything on the phone?

I have a Motorola Q9c and I have the backlight time out set to 10 seconds and the display time out set to never and it works fine, even with the standard battery. This is why I am trying to get the 800W to do the same.

The Pro has a setting in settings system baclight for the backlight. You can uncheck that box and it will stay on I dont know for how long. Anytime you are using power its going to run down and with winmo probably quicker. Why not set your phone to vibrate when you get a message. Or have it do an alert sound the volume on the pro is way louder than my 750 or 650 were.

As you well know, the back light is a big user of battery power.

At work, I hav emy phone set on my desk and like toe ability of just glancing at it to see if i have any missed calls, text messages or voice mail wothout having to constantly touck a button to see teh screen. I am in and out of my office constantly.

Ok. Well, good luck. Your battery will not last if you find such an application. I once played with G-Watch, it has an option to always keep the light on. It hit the battery hard though. A link: http://www.freewarepocketpc.net/ppc-...d-g-watch.html

My Q9c works perfectly nad battery life does not got down. The standard battery lasts al lday no problem. maybe I should not buy the New Treo Pro then.

Bubba, let me not be rude. The Q9C is not the same as the Treo. Look around - some can and some cannot.

On the 700p there is a small LED on the top right that will flash when you miss a call, or have voice mail. Did we loss that feature on later phones????

Not really. Lots of people complained about it. Butler gives one control over the LED light and may be worth looking at.
