    Default Making calls from computer

    Hello,

I already know you can use your phone as a modem and then access the internet via your computer, but my question is is there any sort of app out there that allows you to make phone calls from your computer via the phone? The reason I am asking is I do not have a home phone line.

My family has 3 different cell phones and I have a yearly service with skype. You would think with 4 active phone lines I would be able to send a fax, but without a lan line this is a no go. I only send faxes maybe once a month if that, so I do not want to use one of the email fax services out there, plus the time I tried it the quality of the fax was so bad I couldn't even view it. I have a fax machine, so my question is is there any way to make calls (resulting in sending the fax) from my computer?

    Thanks all

Can you not simply call landlines using Skype on your PC connected to the internet via your mobile?

I understand you problem. Sip trunks often do not work well decoding and resend faxes. I have the same issue here.

You can try to setup your phone as a generic modem and see if that works.

But there might be another solution; Do you have remote access to any PC's connected to a landline, or remote access to a Microsoft Fax Server (usually a server set up to send faxes directly from a workstation PC so they don't have to use the fax machine in the office).

So if you have remote access then simply scan the document, and either print it over the fax server from your remote location, or copy to the remote PC that is plugged into a phone jack and use that PC's built on fax software to send it.

    Good Luck!
    Thanx a bunch!:dft010:smile
