Texting Program closes while typing
Ok, had my Pro for a couple of months....no problems until last night. I can read txt messages fine. When I go to type a text message (reply or new) I can oly type 4-5 characters before the program closes and takes me to the main screen and then into my contacts list. It even looks up the contact with the letters I just tried to type in the text message. It got so bad last night that everytime I opened the start menu or Internet, it immediately close and go back to the home screen. I was able to fix that by removing the battery and then powering back up. The texting issue is still unsolved though. It also does the same thing when I type an email. I also tried a soft reset using the button under the stylus.
Any thoughts?

I've continued to mess with the phone and realized that the problem extends to everything on the phone, but is limited to typing in a symbol, punctuation, or space. I can't use any punctauation or spaces in MS WORD Mobile, on Google, or in a text or email. As soon as I hit space or any punctuation, the program closes.
Any thoughts?

Did we recently install a new application that just might be running all the time? Look in the startup folder. Or any new applications? If not, then backing up the PIM files and a hard reset - then after the hard reset restore ONLY the PIM files and see what happens.
If you restore all of the files from the backup, there is an exceedingly good chance (99.99999999999999%) the probably will eventually happen again.

Ok, I haven't installed any applications. What is a PIM file and how do I back it up? The main concern is not losing my contacts.

i had the exact same problem on my pro a couple months ago. ANNOYING, anyways, i tried a HARD reset and it worked, granted i lost all my applications, but my phone was properly working again. to hard reset, you need to take off the battery cover, and using your stylus hold down the small button on the bottom right. it should work just fine after that. make sure you sync up your phone with a computer before performing hard reset or you will lost contact information.
