Treo Pro battery life
I find that my phone will barely last overnight. I know this is dependent upon things such as signal strength etc. Whats your typical battery life? Any tricks to extend?

Is your phone automatically retrieving e mails every few minutes....or are you manually retrieving them? I switched to manual as I'm not always away from my desktop and it nearly doubled my battery life.

turn off all unused programs click on the icon in the upper right hand side of screen. It will show any open programs. Also as stated above turn off your data connection at night you dont need to respond to emails in your sleep. I keep my pro in the cradle at the office and have a car charger and a wall carger at home and a retractable usb sync n charge for elsewhere. No reason to ever have a dead battery. I even have a camping battery operated lantern with a usb charging port and a hand crank.

To further expand on the subject of battery life......how reasonable is it to expect a device that does all that most smart phones do to last as long as a simple cell phone? Push e-mail every 15 minutes, texting, taking pictures, playing games, making notes, going to the web, daily calendar and appointment usage....all on a color screen? If you use a smart phone for even half of its functions, you have to have some type of charging ability close by, regardless of who made the phone.

Indeed tis best to follow the boy scout motto "Be Prepared"

I have email set to every 2 hours, and I do lock the keyboard which shuts down the screen. I think it has more to do with signal strength (2-3 bars) Unfortunately I can't turn off the radio over night.

I understand the not turning the phone off....my cell is my only phone. Signal strength shouldn't matter, however, if you're so far out that it's switching to analog vs digital, that WILL make a big diiference in battery life. Since you say it's an overnight thing.....do you not keep it plugged into the charger overnight?

A couple of things I've found from previous Windows Mobile devices that may help:
1) Turn off error reporting in the Settings
2) Turn off the user feedback in Settings
3) Go to Settings>Connections and click on Beam. Uncheck the box so it isn't receiving incoming beams.
4) Go to Programs>ActiveSync. Click on Menu>Add Server Source. Make up any settings, but don't let it check for settings online for you. It doesn't matter what you enter, I usually put "a" in each field. Once this is done, in ActiveSync, go to Menu>Schedule. Set peak and off-peak times to MANUALLY. Uncheck send outgoing items immediately. This should keep ActiveSync from trying to sync when it's not connected.
5) Review you blacklight and battery settings to minimize how much power you use there.
6) I have my email set to check 2 different email addresses once per hour. The more often you check, the more battery power you will use.
7) Press and hold OK button until the Task Manager comes up. Kill any apps you aren't using/don't need running all the time.
Hope this helps!
