Default Where is the anatenna located?

I just upgraded from an old LG flip phone, this is my first smart phone. I fequently work in remote ares with a weak signal. I have a antenna/signal booster and external antenna. The only "pigtail" (connects phone to booster) for this new Pro is a velcro job, you mount on the phone. However this does not seem to give me the added reception I expected?
If I mount the pigtail closer to the phone own internal antenna would I have better reception.

The antenna is internal its somewhere in the top 1/3 of thre device I am assuming above the battery. Just thinking sort of logically. The old treo with the external stub antenna had a rubber plug you could pull off and make a direct connection with the antenna. Not any more.
