Facer Pro review by Chris
Just read the Facer Pro review by Chris and found it useful enough to purchase outright. This is a cool app and for a former Pocket PC (Windows Mobile) user, the Today screen was what drew my interest.
The only option I would have liked was more customization in the dock, allowing me to pick any program to place in the dock.
Other than that, it's really nice and make my Treo 650 even more useful.

I agree. This would have been nice. I guess they'd have to develop icons for the supported gadgets and perhaps that is the reason for the omission.

I think you'll enjoy this app. Coming from the 700w back to the 700p, I was missing the Today screen. If Facer integrated Speed Dialing buttons, I'd be set.
Good luck and let me know your thoughts on the app.

I too use Facer and have since I can remember it coming out. The Today screen is what sold me. Where I wish there were more theme and gadgets, what is here is pretty solid and I don't really find a need to use my Treo without it.
That being said, if it had better support on the Today page for 5Way usage (or at least more versaitle - using the 5way to select a plugin, speed dial feature, or picture dial like he 700w, and a BT toggle) then I would probably be set and not ask for anything else.

There haven't been any updates and the software has a few issues when using with the 700p. I've yet to hear anything from PocketCraft. Just checked their site and we're still at 3.11.

I'm surprised we don't see any third parties come up with themes. How does zLauncher and SilverScreen have so many third party developers? That being said, the themes and icons that are included are fantastic.

PC is a one developer company, and Facer has taken a back seat to another project at the moment (I keep tabs via email from time to time).
The others have more themese because their thememaker programs were a bit simpler to get started and working with newer versions of the software. Facer's thememaker has not yet bene updated for F3. Dont know when that will happen though.
There is a theme for Facer via Leslie Franke (Leslie Franke) that is pretty neat. I do not know if Leslie is doing another though.
3.1.1 was a maintence releasse for the datebook plugin. I have been banging my head against the wall trying to figure out how to make or enhance plugins, but I just cannot seem to get a hand on the programming side of things (and I design websites, aint that weird).

Great. Thanks. I'll definitely check it out.

I agree it looks quite slick. One of the things I have disliked about Treo's is how plain they look. I am a former pocket pc user and always thought that their setup was nicer looking than palms. I am going to try the 7 day trial and this so far looks to be the first piece of online I may actually purchase for my Treo. As long as it does not make my Treo reboot 10 times a day.

F3 is usually quite stable. I will say though if you have any hacks/extensions running, its best to dsable them, then install Facer and then reenable them. You run into fewere issues that way.
Also, Facer (like some other sharewarre) does make your device funky if you leave it on past the trial period. Dont know why, but just a heads up.
