Great News! SpeedDial for Treo.
We hereby invite the community to try out the beta release of our newest program;
SpeedDial for the Treo.
This program works in conjunction with the standard Treo Phone application.
It allows you to store 99 SpeedDials, which can be called by dialing 1 or 2 digits in the regular phone application, and then the send button.
This is the method that is used by most mobile phones, but is lacking in the Treo.
(The Treo itself supports only the hold-down-your-finger-until-it-explodes method!) ::rolleyes:
In addition, this program has ShortDial, which allows you to dial any number in the Contacts,
by dialing the last 4 digits of the number.
For example, you can dial 800-555-1212, by just dialing 1212.
The program is compatible with the Treo 600 & 650.
You can download this beta release in both prc or zip files
prc version at http://mobile.lionscribe.com/downloa...eddialtreo.prc
zip version at http://mobile.lionscribe.com/downloa...eddialtreo.zip
Please email us any bugs or comments at speeddialtreo@lionscribe.com.
We would very much appreciate your feedback, so that we can put out the Release version.
Thank you,
The LionScribe Team

I'll give it a shot. I'm using TakePhone, so that will give you some feedback on whether it works ok with a 3rd party dialer.

Thank you. I downloaded this application several days ago, when I upgraded from the Treo 600 to the 650. It is great! Easy to set up and use and it actually works the way you say it will. (What a concept! <g>)
One request while it is still in beta. It would be nice if there was some way to set up this program, and then easily have it's speed dial list replace the one that comes with the phone. I know I could just set them both up to be the same, but it would be easier to simply replace one with the other.
Other than that, I highly recommend this program.

OK, I like the last 4 digit match dialing capability. However, for one handed speed dial, it is no better than the existing letter system - unless someone can tell me how to dial a number w/the keypad w/o hitting the option button. Using one number on the touchscreen is cool, but not necessarily a time saver. As said above, it would be nice to be able to get to the main menu with one button. Maybe many people who use speed dial can remember 99 speed dial numbers by heart, but I use 2 through 9 regularly and that's about it. Actually, I am probably not a good target for this feature - I have never used speed dial beyond the 2-9 keys b/c I don't call 20-30-40-50 people enough to memorize that many speed dial numbers. I can type 2-3 letters of their name and get it almost as fast - and I don't have to further clutter this old mind of mine!

i'll give it a try also. i constantly use the one button dialing on my treo, but for some reason, when i hold the button down lately, it doesn't dial. but if i hit the number and then #, a dial window pops up and then i can hit dial. so if this program is quicker than pushing 3 buttons, i'm all for it...

It's a no-go with TakePhone.

Smart Phone Idiot
For the reasons Bubbatex stated, I didn't find it any more handy than scrolling the first screen. Not to say it is a bad program, or that it didn't work; it did! Just not something that I really need!

New Version
Just to let everyone know that we just put up Beta version 1.04b
This version has the following additional abilities (in addition to the abilities added to ver 1.02b).
You have the option to set a default prefix for ShortDial. This prefix will be used in the event that there is no matching ShortDial number found. This is very useful for corporate numbers. For example; if you set the default prefix to be '800555', and you dial '1212', ShortDial will seek a match for '1212', and if there is no match, it will dial '8005551212'. If you do not enable this option, then you will just be notified that no match has been found.
You can now have ShortDial ignore a specific number in your Contacts, by adding a dash at the end of the number (in Contacts).
Hope you enjoy the changes. We hope to release the final version in Mid-May.
You can download the new version from the previous link. If you already installed SpeedDial, you can update it by choosing "Check for Updates..." from the drop-down menu.
Thanks,
The LionScribe Team

I'll try it.I don't use anything except the treo's phone options, so I may be happy.
