Question Installable on SD Card or not?

I am frequently frustrated by the lack of clarity of installation options of many programs. Can one determine which programs can be installed and run from the SD card? How is direct installation to SD different than installing to ROM and using, eg. PowerRun to move the program?
    Thanks for your help.
    Cheers,

Well a good rule oof thumb for programs if they need to be installed on the rrom of not is if they say it in the read me text file, need connection to the internet, or configures something on the device like the LED. Also, some apps with pdb you might have to have the pdb reside in the internal rom.
What app are you trying to install to your sd card, if you don't mind me asking?

Second, installing apps is just like installing them on to your internal rom. open qucik install and drag teh files to the bottom box where it states your sd card. If not using palm desktop make sure that the app resides in the launcher file on the sd card.

Using powerrun is like using filez to move the app. Just make sure you know if the app has a database and move the database as well.

An application that must run in the background, work around events, work with other applications, just has to be in the device's main memory. Examples:

Your third party launcher; your alarm clock (mobileClock), your datebook (Datebook 6), a "today application such as 2Day, your security program (TealLock), your device based backup utility (Resco Backup), a ring tone manager, a bugging manager, 4Cast (since it has the ability to get weather automagically on a set schedule), QuickNews (since it has the ability to update on a set schedule), BluePill (cause it has to be ready to zap the phone at any old time), VolumeCare (cause it has to be ready to up the volume at a moment's notice). The list is long.
