| The file you need should be WEME571.zip.
The files you need to install in main memory are:
fileconnect.prc
J9JavaVMMidp20.prc
JavaMVCheck_enUS.prc or equiv language file
pimop.prc
PIMPrefs.prc
Once you install Java, go to the Palm's System "preferences" and there you will find the area to set the basic Java preferences. I generally recommend the max on everything except the cache - I use the middle value.
The file is available via Palm's site. If you cannot get it, PM with an email address and I will send it to you.

| Ahh. I had found that area on Palm's site last night but there was not an option for the 700, only the 650 so I selected "Other" and it told me there was no software available. Today I tried telling it I had a 650 and the WEME571.zip was there to DL. Thanks a bunch!
EDIT: http://www.palm.com/us/support/jvm/download.html is the site if anyone can use

| It will work and on my device works well. Remember though that it is another "interface" and therefor takes a bit of time to get use to.
If memory is a problem and you use a launcher similar to ZLauncher that has the capabiltiy of handling multiple user ids, then Java and the Java application can reside in the same ZLauncher application folder on the card - that means that you do not have to keep Java in main memory. The downside to this is the length of time it may take to launch the Java application - ZLauncher has to copy all of the files in the application folder to main memory to launch.
So, on the 650 Java lives in the 3 ZLauncher application folds that have Java applications. On my 700p Java lives in main memory along with the support files it and the Java based application create. The actual Java based application lives either in main memory (KMaps) or on the card (other two Java based applications I have).

| It's enormously frustrating: installing the files simply sends my 700p into an endless reset loop. Furthermore, the "prefs" file is of a different name when installed on my device, than what it's supposed to be. I'm wondering if compatibility exists for the 700p [it is not explicitely listed as being compatible]

| Java is the most erratic application I have come across. Once it works, it works right. I am glad it is running for you.
