Looking for Group Text Messaging program...

Just looking for a simple program that allows me to create groups of contacts in my Treo, and add as many people as I like - 20, 30, 90, etc.
Then, with the touch of a simple send, to send a TEXT message (or perhaps even photo message) to the Entire Group.
Preferably at least One Copy of the message will be shown in the SENT folder.
Need to create half a dozen groups, like "Close Friends," "Co-Workers," "Family," etc. It would be nice to be able to create as many groups like this as I like.
Also very cool if the program at least could be stored on the SD card.

Anyone know of a Treo 650 program that can do this?
Really don't need any additional frills beyond these features.

Any / all recommendations much appreciated. :laugh3:

P.S. NOT interested in the "bulk" text services AT ALL - must be a program that is stand alone and uploaded to the Treo itself

3jam is your best bet. But you gave me an idea for an app development. I'll have to do some research on networking and so on for palm OS. But I think I found my next app develop. Thanks for mentioning this.

Have you checked out GroupTextMessaging, from the freeware downloads section?

I use GroupTextMessaging bunches of times a day. It has one drawback - it does not write to the SMS data file - so if you need a copy of the SMS, send yourself a copy and what I do is send it to one of my IMAP Push accounts. Ben

jreagles16 - hey if you do develop a little app that does this quickly and cleanly please post it here. You probably have a handful of beta-testers at your fingertips.:smile:
Looks like GroupTextMessage might work, so all you'd really need to do is clean that one up a bit, maybe make the UI a bit nicer, and especially add the automated listing of your sent Group messages in the regular Sent folder, something GTM is missing.

I've been trying the Group Text Messaging app from Palm and it has NOT been reliable for me.... not at all!

I tried it this morning - sent out 20 texts among my friends as a "test" ... and asking them to just respond back with an "OK". I got ONE back. So I called 5 of them back, and none of them had received the message. Obviously, this is discouraging.

Much like the OP, I also need an app that will let me group 30 names or so together, save them as a list, and then be able to send one message out to all of them. And then be able to (obviously) re-use that list.

3jam is NOT an option (as I understand it) because it doesn't have a way of sending to a group without the entire group being responded to.

I need to use something like this in my business... (not spamming)... more of an RSVP sort of thing - and I can't have each response going to the entire group for obvious reasons.

I am using a Treo 650 that has been flashed over to work on Cricket... it's fabulous... and texting normally works just fine on it. But the Palm app is absolutely worthless.

I think there would be a market for something like this.

So... when you have a piece of software onboard the Treo that will allow a group of 25 (for ex).... will the software send out those messages individually (so to speak) so that a carrier's limit of 10 (for example) doesn't come in to play?

Well that is the goal but having some difficulty right now.

this will be my first app. So I'm doing a lot of research and learning as I go through this Palm OS is really difficult. Just don't get your hopes up. But been working on this the whole break. Its nice to get away from class for a bit.
