Default Active Sync and Text Messages

I have a Verizon Palm Treo 700W. I have the Text message plan for 1,000 text messages fot $9.99. I also have the data plan for $44.99. I used to have a 650p Treo and used Versamail. I used to have about 600 text messages a month. Now I got the 700W and my first bill said I had 1,900 text messages. I know I did not get or send that many, not even close. I call Verizon and they said it is because I have my active sync to exchange turn on automatic so when I get an email is downloads it automatically. They said change it to every 15 minutes because every time I get a message their service sends a kind of text message to my phone to download the message and so it counts as one text message. I think this is unacceptable, anyone else run into this? BTW they gave me 2,000 text mesages a month for the same price to make me a little happier.

The new DirectPush does NOT use Text Messages to sync with the Treo. Is your Exchange Server up to date? Have you performed the update on your Treo?
