Can a true Verizon 650 save pictures to the SD card? Are pictures transferred to the desktop on hotsync? Or did they cripple those features to force you to pay for their picture messaging?

Within the Camera app, you should be able to save to your SD card. I don't have the Verizon Treo 650, but I haven't heard anything regarding crippling of photo capabilities.

Default Yes you can save them

I have the Verizon Treo 650. There's a "Copy to Card" option in the Media app - saves videos and pictures.
