Exclamation Just ordered my Verizon Treo 650

I walked into a Circuit City in Los Angeles today and inquired about when they were getting their Treo 650s in stock. I was told that he had just found out that not only were they going to be in stock in just over a week, but if I wanted to I could order it today and have it shipped to me overnight.

Needless to say I immediately bought it and have the receipt in my wallet! He will be sending my the Fedex number in the morning. I am supposed to receive it Saturday the 14th or Monday the 16th depending on Fedex.

I would recommend ordering one ASAP. There seems to be a waiting list everywhere and they will be gone a few hours after they are delivered in each store.

I suspect that Circuit City and other official Verizon stores might have first shot at the first shipments of Treo.

    Informative Got mine!

Walked into Circuit city just as they were unpacking their first 650 and bought it on the spot. Woo Hoo!

BTW- Verizon will give another $100 off if you sign up for the unlimited data plan for $45 per month.
I was told that there is no minimum subscription length, so you could turn around and drop it a week later.

    Default Call Verizon

I called Verizon directly and placed an order- they delivered via FedEx overnight for an additional $15. Phone was ordered on Friday the 13th (spooooky) and it arrived at my work address on Monday.

The Verizon store down the street had shrugged their shoulders when I asked them when they were getting their first shipment. Hah.

Got the number to call from this story:

    http://abcnews.go.com/Technology/ZDM/story?id=754987

"The Verizon Treo is not currently available in stores, but can be bought from Verizon Wireless over the phone by calling 800-922-0204."

System Tools or Repair My Verizon Horror story....

Here's my horror story about ordering/getting my Treo 650 from Verizon.

About 3 weeks ago I lost my Kyocera 7135 (second time this year- long story) which was insured. Since the 7135 was getting "long in the tooth", I decided to pass on the $50 insurance deductible and not waste my second claim and use that toward a new phone. Went to Verizon to pick up a Treo 600 and while on the phone to verify some info, the agent tells me the 650 will be available in 2 weeks (5/23).

She also tells me about the Verizon "Worry Free Guarantee" where I can use a phone for 15 days (bought a cheap Nokia) and return it (to hold me over 'til the Treo 650 comes out). Perfect, $100 more than the 600 but the new features make it worthwile.

Fast forward to Monday 5/23. I call the Circuit City Verizon store (about 5:30pm) where I bought the Nokia and ask did they get the Treo 650 in, guy says "Yes, we have 5 or 6 or so".

I say okay, "I'll be there after work around 7pm". He offers to hold one for me, I say "Cool" and give him my name.

I get there and he is with a customer so I start playing with the Treo 650 on display and getting excited about my new phone. When he finishes, I tell him I called and he is holding one for me. He looks in his stock, (worried look). He says he has to go to lock up to get one.

Comes back empty handed. Says he has to call his manager who worked this morning. He calls. I over hear "Only Two???".

    My heart drops....

He says, sorry we only got two and one was sold early this morning and the other needs to stay on display, but you can go to the regular (Non Circuit City) Verizon Store, "They should have plenty, it's only a mile or so away but they close at 8pm"

I look at my watch, 7:36pm, okay "Can you call them and let them know the situation", and I rush out.

I arrive there at 7:50pm. I explain my situation to the sales lady. She says "Oh, we don't have any... - No stores have them for sale, you have to order them"

    WTF...

I explain, Circuit City just SOLD one today, they ARE OUT now? I have been following this release for almost 3 WEEKS. They are supposed to be available for purchase in your store!

She goes on: "We only got two also, cooperate sent an e-mail saying those two are DISPLAY ONLY. Customers should order direct.

Obviously I won't get anywhere with her and leave.

Anyway. I call *611 and recap my story with the Verizon Rep. She is VERY HELPFUL and says they are for sale in Retail and begins a calling spree to find me one. She calls about 7 locations, everybody is out.

I order over the phone, and HOPEFULLY I will have my TREO 650 by 4pm today according to FedEX... (sorry about the lengthy post, needed to vent!)

I went into the Verizon store today and talked to a rep while paying my bill. He said if you are a NEW Verizon customer, you can get the Treo 650 for around $299 and if you are an EXISTING customer, you can get it for $480. You can sign up for any plan and then just add on for $45 the unlimited internet access per month so it's worth it either way to go with Verizon. The rep talked VERY highly of the Treo 650. He also said while you can get the phone cheaper through other sites and through authorized dealers, you won't get the warranty which when you are paying this much money for a phone you want the warranty.

This doesn't sound right? I have a hard time believing that Verizon wouldn't honor the warranty on a new Verizon phone - regardless of whether you bought it at a Verizon store, Circuit City or an authorized dealer.

I do to Chris. If a customer has recently bought a phone and the phone is not working to its quality I dont think they would have a problem replacing the phone. As long as your friend Joe didnt sell you the phone.

Default Should I wait until mu upgrade to get one?

Hi guys, I was just wondering if it would be worth the wait. I know they are a bit pricey for a phone, but for the features it has maybe not. But my plan upgrade is in another 4 months, but I really would like to get it asap. Would it be worth to wait since I could get an extra 100 bucks off or no? I just really would like to have this phone but debating on if I should just wait till my plan ends...Any jelp is welcome. thanks again.
