Network status for Verizon?

Anyone know if there's a way (e.g. website/blog/phone number) that we can check the network status of Verizon Wireless? More specifically I'm interested to get the status not only on the voice, but also data (such as whether EVDO is down or not).

I've been with VZW (and it's predecessors) for over 10 years and I've not come across a way to do this. Any ideas?

Unlike being able to go on www.verizon.com and see if DSL is available in your area, I've never seen an option on verizonwireless.com to check if EVDO is available. I just keep asking the two stores in my area if they have heard anything.
