Default Sending text messages via email

I'd like to know how a text message sent via my email program is categorized. For example, if I use my email application to send a person a message to the following (carrier- based email address):

    XXX-XXXX@cingularme.com or XXX-XXXX@vtext.com

Will these be categorized as text messages or emails? The reason I'd like to know is because I don't have a voice or text plan for my Treo; I have data only and would be charged for those 'emails' if Verizon categorizes them as text messages.

Thanks for any and all replies.

Thanks for the reply. I was hoping it would be a data thing and not SMS.

    Thanks again!
