Unlocked Treo 650 from Palm.com
It seems that Palm.com currently has a great deal for buying their Palm Treo 650. One option is to buy the Treo "unlocked" with a case and car charger. I was wondering if someone can kind of expalin what unlocked really means and if Verizon Wireless would accept an unlocked phone. From what I understand, unlocked means that the phone isn't locked to one carrier, and isntead of having your tipical 2 year contract, you can have a monthly service instead. Is this correct? Thank you so much for the help.

The unlocked phones from Palm are GSM based, meaning you could use the Treo 650 on any GSM network. In the US, an example would be Cingular or T-Mobile. Verizon and Sprint use a different technology called CDMA and you wouldn't be able to use a GSM phone on this network.
Hope this helps.
