The full version is free. You get a 30 trail of the full version for free, after which is gets knocked down to the trial version which still gives you up-to-the-date movie showtimes, listings, locations, restaraounts, and nightlife. Just doesn't give you as much as the full version, but I've been using the trail version of about 5 years now and I love it.

I was thinking of doing the same thing for my Calender and Contacts, but didn't know if everything would beam over completely or not. Can anybody else let me know about beaming vs. exporting and which is better and why please?

I just got the Treo 650 2 days ago. I have been using a Palm IIIc (yeah, yeah, I know.) and was using the old HotSync software. When I installed the new Treo HotSync desktop software, it reomoved the old version but automatically ported all of my old data (contacts, notes, calendar) to the new desktop software. When I HotSync'ed the first time, everything transferred over just fine! I wasn't expecting it at all, but it was a nice surprise!

Shortly afterward, it cleaned the house, cooked dinner and put on the SF Giants game. :D

On a serious note, it's good to hear a few success stories. Good luck with your new 650! It's an excellent piece of technology

    Question

I'm assuming from what Monkeyboy wrote, that he did not uninstall his old Palm Desktop software, and merely installed the Treo 650 Palm Desktop software over the old version and it automatically imported your Contacts and Calender?

chris, which is a better way to do this? The way Monkeyboy described with the new install over the old, the way fafafoooey described with importing and exporting the files and completely uninstalling and deleting the folders, or beaming like Markomyt1 said?

    Phøenix,

That is correct. I did recall seeing a warning (on the Palm site? on the install software itself? Can't remember...) about making sure you uninstall the old desktop software first, and I ignored it (as most of us IT folk do :D ) and let the install go on about it's business. When it was finished and I had completed my first sync, everything from my IIIc was now on the Treo 650.

Anyway, it seemed pretty seamless to me. Good luck with whatever path you choose, young jedi...

It looks like we'll have these in stock for order VERY shortly. They will be $329 w/ a 2 year service contract -- in stock tomorrow -- and shipping.

There is a limited quantity and I expect they will go fast!

w00t! I just got mine today!

I called in late to work and went straight to the Verizon store which opens @ 9:00 AM. I pulled up and walked into the store at exactly 9:04 AM and there was already a line for the Treo! LMAO! Good thing the guy I know there put one aside for me as soon as they got thier shipment in. :p ;)

I'm loving it. Now I just have to figure out how to set up speed dial with numbers instead of letters, and how to set up my POP3 with my Gmail account, as well as voice dialing with a free program and not one of the pay ones on the PalmOne site.
