Just a week, we talked about how Sprint had an great opportunity with SlingPlayer for Palm Pre, given the recent news that Apple had removed 3G capability on SlingPlayer for iPhone at AT&T’s behest. The good news comes via a Sprint internal document (via Engadget) that details Showcase Apps that will be available at or near launch. Below is the complete list and included is Sling Media. Oddly enough, the folks at Sling Community haven’t gotten wind that a webOS app was in development.
- Pandora, Electronic Arts, SGN, Craig’s List, Sling Media, DirecTV
- Facebook, MySpace, Match.com, Loopt, Twitter
- City Search, Zagat, Fandango, Movietickets.com, Lonely Planet, FlightView
- NY Times, AP Mobile, ESPN, Handmark Stocks, Bank of America
- Intuit, Epocrates, WebMD, Salesforce.com, Austin Lane, DataViz, Mark/Space
The inclusion of Mark/Space, makers of The Missing Sync, is great news for Mac users. That would infer that a desktop app is in the works that would sync the Palm Pre with Apple’s iApps. While many expected a Twitter app, this list pretty much seals the deal. Those waiting for a version of Tweetie, the consensus #1 Twitter app for the iPhone, should not expect a Palm Pre version. We reached out to the developer a few weeks back and the company has no plans to develop for the webOS.
