Howard Stern hit the airwaves today and finally made a decision on his next smartphone. Stern is a longtime Palm user, but had discussed moving to either a BlackBerry Bold or an iPhone. Palm reps looked to capitalize on their continued grassroots marketing efforts by offering the King Of All Media a one-on-one demo that reportedly took place on Thursday. Despite their best efforts, Stern selected the BlackBerry Bold. According to ZDNet, the dealbreaker was the Palm Pre’s inability to connect with Lotus Notes.
While this certainly will not affect most consumers, as they will likely base their purchase decision on their wants and needs, it was a missed opportunity at creating more "low cost" buzz for the Pre.
