There is an unconfirmed report that Best Buy will reportedly receive a shipment of just 4,500 Palm Pre phones on June 6th for a June 7th "trial launch". Units would be available at every Best Buy Mobile, but in very limited quantities. It’s not clear why Best Buy would be involved in a trial of the hottest phone to hit since the iPhone 3G? Limited quantities would cause immediate sellouts at Best Buy locations and result in plenty of frustrated customers.
The report indicates that pricing of the Palm Pre still isn’t set, but the following price points are being discussed. New customers with a 2-year contract, $199.99. Existing customer upgrades, $299.99. $999.99 without a contract.
