Treo 680 Camera Module Update Fixes Battery Drain IssueJanuary 18, 2007

A software update for the Unlocked GMS Palm Treo 680 has shown up on Palm's French support site. The Treo 680 Camera Update 1.0 supposedly resolves an issue whereby the camera drains the battery even when in standy mode. UPDATE: Palm has released the Treo 680 CameraModule Update in the US. 
This issue has not yet been documented on Palm's US knowledgebase for either the Cingular Treo 680 or unlocked GSM Treo 680 (although the referenced updater is for the Unlocked Treo 680). According to the installer splash screen, the Treo 680 Camera Module Patch Installer will fix the camera module power drain issue. For more information, you'll need to brush up on your French and visit Palm's French support site. As soon as we get word on a US release of this update, we'll provide more information.

It Really Works! I added the patch to my 680 Friday. let the phone charge completely. I used it all day today, sending LOTS of SMS and about 2 hours worth of talk, and the battery is still going strong! I guess Palm found the problem! Remember to keep the file, however, as you will have to re-install it should you need to do a hard reset! |
